Final Fantasy XIII… On 360!

Sweet Mary Josephine Tapdancing Etcetera. There are a lot of potential CRAAAZY things that will be/could have been announced at this year’s E3, but I never would have seen this one coming. Square Enix has announced that the next numerated Final Fantasy game, the hotly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII will debut on the Xbox 360 the same time as the PS3 in North America.

Sorry, Sony Fans. I’m feeling it, too. I mean, sure I have a 360 as well as a PS3, but it just won’t feel the same. I feel… betrayed. Not sure why, but man oh man is this ever a big deal. Now we’re left to wonder if this means the same fate for Versus XIII, or if it will act as the proverbial “bone” thrown to PS3 fans.

Update:
After the it was revealed that XIII would not be an exclusive on the PS3, journalists at Square Enix’s keynote simply would not let the matter go. Further digging revealed two important facts: There is not Xbox 360 version of FFXIII planned for release in Japan, and as of this point FF Versus XIII is still planned as a PS3 exclusive.

Guh. I don’t welcome this news. I like my exclusivity to match up with my brand loyalty, and this was one of those rare occurrences.

What?! The beer-swilling jocks that make up the 360’s main demographic are not refined enough to appreciate the sophisticated beauty of Final Fantasy! For the first time in my life I question Square’s motives…

wow, dan. thassa mean thing ta say. The 360 has a huge market of hardcore gamers, and I have no doubts that square-enix’s flagship franchise will thrive there. Nonetheless, I’m completely with Simon. This has been a Sony franchise since 1996, and most of the FFXIII trailers up to this point have said “On PS3- EXCLUSIVELY” in their end credits up to this point.

Microsoft must have dropped an absolutely INSANE amount of money to get this along with the limited exclusivity on Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean, and Infinite Undiscovery.
