WiiWare Goes Live

May 12th is here, and now all of us in North America can join the Japanese in all the fun they’re having with Nintendo’s answer to PSN and XBLA. WiiWare is now up and running with 6 titles (not 5, as had been previously announced) ready for download. The list goes a little something like this:

Final Fantasy: 1500 Wii Points
LostWinds: 1000 Wii Points
Defend Your Castle: 500 Wii Points
Pop: 700 Wii Points
VIP Casino Blackjack: 700 Wii Points
TV Show King: 1000 Wii Points

No Dr. Mario, as it turns out. That’ll be coming soon, though, I hope. So, based on the half-dozen titles there, anything warrant a purchase? Lost Winds, pictured above, has a lot of people talking, and obviously Final Fantasy is tempting, though when you hear things like “it’s more like Sim City,” and “you get to pay for additional playable races” I’m a little deterred. What’ll you be grabbing (if anything)?
