Return of the Blue Hedgehog??

Some consider my love for Sonic, the hardcore speed demon, to be almost too unhealthy. Yes I get chastised for my obsession, but ever since I was little I’ve been drawn to him.Oh the glory days... Whether it was the cartoon series, or the myriad of games that have been released since the days of the Sega Genesis. But lately, Sega attempt at reviving the blue speed devil have left me shivering in the corner, uttering something about chili dogs.

That’s why when I read the news that images had leaked for a new Sonic game, I was excited with a cautious hesitation of being ecstatic. Yes they were released on one of Sega’s FTP sites, but considering what Sega has done for me lately, should that be a good thing?

So here we go again. I hold my breath as maybe, just maybe, this will revive the dormant franchise. What we do know from the screenshots is that it will be making it’s return to 2.5D in which the majority of it will be played on a 2d plane with 3d graphics. And speaking of graphics, the quality of them points to a Ps3/Xbox 360 release. Lastly, since Sega trademarked the title “Sonic Unleashed” last month, we can safely call it that for now. Here is the meat:

Maybe going back to the 2.5d realm will hearken back to the glory days of Sonic? The answer I can hope for is yes, or else I’ll have to get the rest of my Sonic satisfaction from Smash Bros.

I don’t think it is too early to pre-order the collector’s edition Matt. Lets hop down to EB and do it! Sega would be smart to ride the smash bros. wave of interest and pump out another title.
