Guitar Hero III DLC - Dropkick Murphys

Dropkick MurphysActivision recently released a free track pack for St. Patricks Day featuring Celtic punk artists the Dropkick Murphys. The tracks included in the pack are “Famous for Nothing”, “(F)lannigan’s Ball”, and “Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya”.

The first two tracks I mention are both very repetitive and similar, not so much in the actual song, just in the way it is played. If you have a huge fetish for repeatedly strumming the yellow and blue chord and the red and blue chord these songs are for you. After getting through those tracks I found a delight in “Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ya”. The track starts out with a nice acoustic intro, possibly played on a mandolin, it then delves into the familiar strumming patterns of the previous tracks, however, it deviates from the norm and has a very fun and challenging solo and excellent outro. I probably would not have payed for the tracks but since it’s free you can’t go wrong. Check the tracks out if you are celebrating the holiday, or if you are like me and don’t own Rock Band.
