GDC: Gears of War 2 confirmed, dated
Well, it’s finally happened, GoW 2 was confirmed and given its release window: November 2008. This means that all of the rabid gears fanboys have nine months to clean off the steaming ejaculate produced and fired wildly into the air by every 14-29 year old male upon the reception of this announcement. This game made the 360. It gave the console a franchise to really get behind. Halo is still the flagship series at this point, but Halo 3 seemed to prove that the story and gaming innovations in the Halo well have been tapped dry. Gears was special; still the go-to game on the console for many, even after sitting on the shelf for nearly two years. Brand new styles of play in terms of their cover system, and how well it meshed with aiming and firing.
An issue with creating a sequel here is just how adored the first title was. Should Epic choose to change the play style to create a new feel in terms of camera adjustments or controls, they will come under immediate fire from the hardcore gears elite. Should they keep everything unchanged, the will be placed under immediate scrutiny by reviewers and game enthusiasts (not gears enthusiasts) for letting the game become stagnant.
All we know for sure is that none of this shit will matter if we can’t turn on our xboxes.

I’m going to go a bit under and say February of 09, what’s that… oh right… I bid 1$ Bob.

that sounds about right to me Ben.
I think the real question here is will Army of Two blow the pants off of GoW2?
If only the Master Chief had a chainsaw on his gun then we could have the best of both worlds.
